Jeff and Krista Across Canada

Follow us on our journey across Canada back home to the Maritimes.

We Made It!

We arrived in Amherst just in time for Thanksgiving turkey dinner on Monday evening. We’re still waiting (impatiently) on our belongings to arrive so that we can move into the house that we’re renting in Amherst. We’ll have a spare bed and bedroom available at the house, so if anyone wants to come and visit, just let us know.

We’ll have a lot more pictures to share in the coming weeks after we get settled into the house and things start to get back to normal.

Québec City

We arrived in Québec City after nearly 800km of driving today. We made a stop in Ottawa to tour around the parliament buildings and the Rideau Canal which made for a pretty long day all ways around.

We’re staying at the Delta Québec which is right in the heart of the old part of Québec City. It’s about three blocks North of the Plains of Abraham, so we’ll be in walking distances of lots of great sight-seeing destinations for tomorrow.

On Monday we’ll start the last leg of our journey to Amherst which will be another 800+km.

Toronto

We arrived in Toronto yesterday morning after a great couple of days in Welland with Kevin and Michelle.

We visited the Hockey Hall of Fame and the CN Tower yesterday afternoon and spent last evening out with friends for dinner and drinks. This afternoon we’re going to the Ontario Science Centre to see the Bodies exhibit with Krista’s cousin Cindy.

Tomorrow we’ll be hitting the road for a quick stop in Ottawa and then on to Quebec City for a couple of days.

Welland, Ontario

Today was a rather short drive (only about 5 hours) from Tobermory to Welland. We toured around the Welland locks this afternoon and then spent the evening with Kevin and Michelle, whom we’re staying with for the next two nights.

Tomorrow we’ll be touring around the Niagra area before venturing on toward Toronto on Thursday.

Tobermory

We arrived to a wonderful home cooked dinner at the Smiths’ in Tobermory after an afternoon on the Chi-Cheemaun (ferry) across Lake Huron.

Today’s drive was much shorter (350km) which was definitely a welcome change.

Sault Ste. Marie

We arrived at our destination much earlier today and covered the ~700km with almost no construction. Aside from a bit of rain here and there it was a great driving day.

Tomorrow we’ll be on our way to visit the Smith’s in Tobermory. It’ll be a much shorter driving day, only about 350km, which we’re very much looking forward to.

Thunder Bay

We arrived in Thunder Bay after a long day of driving (700km). We ran into a lot of construction along our way today that added between 1.5 and 2 hours to our travel time.

Tomorrow we’ll be driving another 700km to Sault Ste. Marie.
